A French military helicopter on Wednesday crashed in Côte d’Ivoire, killing the pilot and seriously wounded a second crew member.
According to the French army, the personnel were on a training mission. It said the Gazelle helicopter crashed about 20 km east of Abidjan, the country’s commercial capital.
“The cause of the accident is still to be determined,” the French army said in a statement.
It also said both crew members were transferred to a French military base at Port Bouet, where the pilot died. The military added that the injured crew member has been airlifted to France for further treatment.
