Ander Herrera, Paris Saint-Germain’s new signing, has thanked fans of Manchester United, his former club, for their support, despite leaving the Premier League last season.
The Spanish midfielder joined the French champions on a free transfer on Thursday, after his contract at United expired at the end of the season.
The former Athletico Bilbao player failed to agree on a new deal at Old Trafford, bringing his five-year spell at the club to an end under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He was unveiled at the Parc des Prince on a five-year-deal.
Despite leaving United in controversial circumstances, the 29-year-old is still loved by some of the club’s fans, with some of them sending him messages of good luck, following confirmation of his latest move.
Taking to Instagram, Herrera thanked them for their continued support.
“Thanks to all United fans that are wishing me the best in my new chapter,” Herrera wrote. “You are still supporting me even when I am not at the club anymore, thanks a lot from my heart, I have no words,” he wrote.
Speaking after his official unveiling, the Spaniard revealed why a move to the French champions appealed to him.
“Paris Saint-Germain is the greatest club in France,” Herrera added.
“I was looking forward to coming to Paris and to wearing those colours. I hope to continue to make history with the club! Joining this club is an amazing feeling.
“I also love the city. Paris is the most beautiful city in the world.
“I promise three things: work, professionalism and passion. I also promise to improve my French because I think that the language is very important for the team’s communication.”
