The Enugu State Police Command on Tuesday paraded 77 criminal suspects including one Okeke Anthony alleged to be luring unsuspecting women to hotel rooms in Enugu State, with the intention to rape and rob them of their valuables.
Parading the suspects at the Police Headquarters, the State Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdur-rahman, told journalists that the suspect, Okeke, whom he described as a hardened criminal was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad at Ezeagu after he allegedly snatched Lexus EX 330 at a gunpoint in the Enugu Metropolis.
He said that the suspect also “specialised in tricking unsuspecting victims, mostly females to hotels, raping, robbing them after stripping them naked and blindfolding them.”

Ahmad said that the suspect who hails from Amachala Amenyi in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State usually came into Enugu State to hunt victims.
Okeke, 25, who confirmed that he is a criminal said he specialised in car snatching.
“We usually get our female folks from amongst commercial sex workers and pretend to be going to lodge with them and while in the hotel, my second will emerge with a sharp dagger from where he is hiding in the bathroom and we blindfold and strip them naked and rob them.
“We use to rob phones, force them to reveal their bank details and PIN number and at times rape too. I have robbed and snatched more than five vehicles at gunpoint in Enugu,” he said.
His accomplice, Anthony, who did not even show remorse said, “We are robbing people, collect their cars and their phones and their money in their account. We use girls to set big men up to rob them.”
The commissioner who praised the state government for its assistance to the police noted that the vehicles newly donated to the command had helped in bringing the state back to its number one status as the most peaceful state in Nigeria.
He said that 77 suspects were arrested for various criminal offences ranging from murder, armed robbery, conspiracy, cultism to car snatching.
Recovered from the suspects according to the Commissioner are; 16 arms, 152 ammunition, six cars, six tricycles and two rapped substances believed to be cocaine and two toy guns.
