How I Met Army Captain Who Freed Me – Alleged Kidnapper, Wadume

Hamisu Bala Wadume, the notorious Taraba kidnap kingpin, has revealed how he met Army Captain, Tijjani Balarabe, who killed three undercover police agents to release him when he was first arrested.

Wadume said he met Balarabe when the latter paid a visit to Seriki of Ibi Town in Taraba State. According to New Telegraph,  the notorious kidnapper also said the Seriki later invited him as a youth leader to meet Balarabe, who was the new army commander in town.

He then narrated how the soldier collected cash gifts from him,  saying the first of them was N30, 000, when they met for the first time at the Seriki’s palace.

“Three weeks later, I went to him again and gave him N50,000. I started fuelling army patrol vehicles whenever they are going on patrol. I do this on every market day. There was even a time I also sent N200,000 to the captain’s bank account.”

The suspect confessed that he was introduced into arms trafficking by his friend, Babaginda Musa.

“Babaginda sold two AK47 rifles to me at the rate of N650,000. He bought two other K2 rifles for me at N550,000. I bought four rifles at the rate of N2.4 million.” The suspect said he later bought an additional five AK47 rifles from Babaginda and Galadima Bakar at the rate of N600,000 each.

Wadume added: “I bought these rifles a day after the presidential election. I also bought three boxes of ammunition from Galadima and Babaginda at the rate of N400,000. I paid N1.2 million. I then sold the three boxes of ammunition at the rate of N480,000 each to Yakubu Yan-Maza and four AK47 rifles at the rate N760,000 each.”
