Nyesom Wike, Rivers State governor, has reacted to a statement by his Kano counterpart, Abdullahi Ganduje, over the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State.
Wike and Ganduje were last week appointed by their respective political parties; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC), respectively, as chairmen of the campaign councils for the Edo election.
Speaking at the formal inauguration of the campaign team, the Kano governor said the APC will place Wike in an isolation centre and win the election before he will recover.

He also accused the PDP of having corrupt intentions to rig the election.
Reacting to the comments, Wike threw a jibe at Ganduje, saying he had never been caught stuffing money into his pocket.
Ganduje was caught on video collecting dollars from a contractor and stuffing it into his pocket in 2018.
He also stated that he is not on the same level with Ganduje.
“I won’t join issues with Ganduje because we’re not at the same level. People should stop the comparison between us. I have never been caught in a videotape stuffing💰 in to my pocket. In fact, all my clothes have no Pockets. I’m a responsible citizen unlike him,” he was quoted as saying by PDP Vanguard.
The Edo governorship election will take place in September.
