A member of Air India’s ground crew was sucked into an aircraft’s engine and was ground to death on Wednesday. The incident happened on Wednesday as the plane was preparing for departure around 9pm local time. The plane was at a parking bay at Mumbai Airport’s T2 Terminal and was headed to Hyderabad. The Managing Director of the airline, Ashwani Lohani, has described the incident as tragic and condoled with the victim’s family. Hindustan Times reports that the body is still stuck in the engine and efforts are ongoing to retrieve it.
