Dino Melaye, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has failed to deliver his local government for his party in Saturday’s Kogi West senatorial district rerun election.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) pipped the PDP to victory in the governorship election collated in Ijumu Local Government Area of the state.
According to the result as announced by the Collation Officer for the LGA on Sunday, the APC, whose candidate is the veteran politician, Smart Adeyemi, polled a total of 11,627 votes while the PDP garnered 7,647 votes.
Adeyemi hails from Iyara, a village in the same local government, while Melaye hails from Aiyetoro.
The PDP candidate is also trailing his APC opponent in three other local governments.
Results announced from Kabba Bunnu LGA shows that the Adeyemi got 15,037 votes while Melaye received 8,974 votes. In Mopamuro LGA, the APC had 4,874 votes while the PDP had 3,704 votes.
Adeyemi secured 14,168 votes in Kogi Koton Karfe LGA and Melaye got 9,786 votes, while in Lokoja LGA, the APC candidate won with 14,168 votes and the PDP candidate polled 9,786 votes.
The PDP, however, defeated the APC in Yagba East LGA, gaining 7,745 votes, with the APC polling 6,683.
