By Bolanle Kougbe A man, Emeka Iwuchukwu, has allegedly killed one Jubril Alji, a 22-year-old motorcyclist at Ajah Area of Lagos State. Iwuchukwu was also alleged to have run away with the deceased’s motorcycle.
The 25-year-old suspect was arraigned before an Ebute Metta Magistrates’ court on a two-count charge of theft and murder. He is alleged to have attacked the deceased at Orchid Hotel Road, Lafiaji village, Ajah.
It was gathered that an argument had ensued between the two at about 1200hrs. Iwuchukwu allegedly hit the deceased on the head with a plank and took off with the latter’s motorcycle, a Bajaj valued at N150,000. Alji is said to have died while receiving medical treatment.
The prosecutor, Darraji Nwaolai of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, SCIID, Yaba, told the court that the offence was punishable under sections 221 and 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The suspect who pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him was granted bail of N300,000 by the presiding magistrate, A. Olajuwon.
The case was adjourned till January 9, 2017.
