Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe has appealed to protesters against his government. Mugabe’s plea came Monday as the country celebrated Heroes Day. The protests are ignited by worsening economic situation. 92-year-old Mugabe said during the celebration: “I call for peace and unity among Zimbabweans. Let us remain united in defence of our sovereignty, in defence of what our national heroes fought for. “We should remain united, remain cognisant of the fact that without unity we cannot make much progress… that’s why things like protests don’t pay because they end up being violent protests. Heroes Day commemorates those who died during Zimbabwe’s war of independence.
