Rafael Nadal has beaten Juan Martin Del Potro to qualify for the final of the US Open. The Spaniard stunned his Argentine opponent with a 4-6, 6-0,6-3,6-2 victory in the second semifinal to set up the 2017 US Open final against Kevin Anderson.
“It means a lot. It has been an amazing season of course after a couple of injures and troubles.
“To be back here in front of this amazing crowd, on this amazing court, and to have the chance to fight for another title is so important to me.”, Nadal said after the game.
Nadal, will battle Anderson, a South African, on Sunday for a third US Open and 16th Grand Slam title.
Earlier, Anderson had beaten Pablo Carreno Busta 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 in the first semifinal.
