The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has said that the hoodlums that attacked South African firms in the country are not its members. The National President of the association, Chinonso Obasi, said in a statement that the association condemns any act of vandalism in the guise of protests.
He called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the attacks and ensure they face the full wrath of the law. He slammed the security operatives for not heeding its warning that some elements had been organising violent attacks on South African firms in the country.
While condemning the xenophobic attacks, Obasi said the best solution could have been a reprisal action. He said that instead of emulating the lowliness of banditry, young people, particularly undergraduates of higher institutions of learning should show higher moral examples.
