Operatives of the National Agency for The Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP), have arrested Abubakar Mustapha Dankara, chief pharmacist of the national hospital, Abuja, for alleged sodomy.
According to a statement signed by Stella Nezan, head, press & public relations unit of the agency, the 42-year-old resident of Spring Valley Estate, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, was arrested for having anal sex with a 12-year-old boy.
She said the offence is contrary to the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015.
Dankara, who is a PhD holder, is also the special assistant (technical) to the director general of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD).
He is also said to be an Imam in the Mosque within his estate.
Nezan said the victim, while narrating his ordeal, told NAPTIP operatives, that the crime took place on March 21, 2020, at the residence of the suspect.
According to the victim, after their religious educational programme (Islamiyya) that afternoon, he decided to check on his friend, who happens to be a neighbor to the suspect.
On getting there, there was no response after several knocks at the door.
But as he wanted to leave, the suspect opened his door and beckoned on him.
The teenager disclosed that Dankara subsequently grabbed his hand and took him into his sitting room.
He said the suspect gave him a glass of water to drink.
The unsuspecting boy began to feel weak after drinking the water.
In the state of his weakness, the suspect overpowered him laid him on a red settee in his sitting room, and forced his penis into his anus.
After the suspect was done, he asked the victim to go home, warning him not to mention what had happened to anyone.
However, on getting home, the victim’s mother, who scolded him about his whereabouts, noticed that her son was uneasy.
She further questioned him, and the boy opened up about what had happened to him.
The victim told NAPTIP that his mother checked his body, and saw sperm content and bruises around his anus region.
His parents, subsequently, rushed him to the national hospital, where he was admitted for five days, before he was discharged on March 26.
The suspect, who is currently in NAPTIP’s custody, denied the boy’s account.
However, NAPTIP disclosed that an identification parade was done, where a number of men with the height and stature of the suspect were put together, and the victim pointed the suspect out.
“Subsequent investigation at the home of the suspect also corroborated the narration of the victim, especially with the colours of the furniture in the suspects’ sitting room, as well as the setting of the place. Further investigations are ongoing,” the agency added.
