Godwin Abuul, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts, College of Education, Oju in Benue state, was reportedly beaten to death by his wife for cheating on her. The unnamed wife didn’t act alone, as her siblings were said to have joined in the fatal beating of Abuul. Seeing their victim die, the alleged killers hurriedly dumped his body in a river and sold his Honda Accord car for N500,000, out of which the wife got N300,000. Quoting a source, the report says a complaint of a missing person was lodged with the police two weeks ago. “Luckily, just two days ago, the cloth he (Abuul) wore the last day he was seen was found on a young man and arrested by the police in Gboko.
“Upon interrogation, the young man confessed the alleged killing by Abuul’s wife and her siblings,” said a source in the report. The wife was equally said to have admitted the crime to police at the state Command Headquarters in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
“As I speak with you, the Police and local divers are still combing River Katsina/Ala to locate the remains of the Goddy (the deceased) but we very much doubt if his remains would be seen because the fishes must have feasted on it,” the source added.
Moses Yamu, assistant superintendent and spokesman for the Police in the state, reportedly confirmed the incident, but said he had n’t a proper briefing about it.
