Organizers of the Bet9ja Nigeria National League, NNL, have again postponed the kick-off of the league. The body confirmed this through a letter sent to participating clubs on Wednesday.
The organizers, who did not state the new kick-off date in the letter, said the commencement of the 2018/2019 season was being put off “due to inability of clubs to complete their registration”. It added that the March 31 start date “was no longer feasible”. It is the second time the start of the league is being shifted since last year.
Forty teams are expected to participate when the league kicks off. The teams have been divided into four groups of ten.
Kwara United, Go Round FC, Heartland and Yobe Desert Stars secured promotion from the NNL to the NPFL last season. Shooting Stars, Gombe United, Remo Stars and ABS were relegated to the second tier of Nigerian league last season.
