Yul Edochie, Nollywood actor and movie director, on Thursday announced that he has has dumped his aspiration of becoming Nigerian president.
According to the filmmaker, he arrived at the decision after extensive consultation.
In a post on Instagram, Edochie urged his fans not to worry, saying he is still “committed to building a new Nigeria”.
He said: “After due consideration and consultations, I will no longer run for president of Nigeria, 2019.
“To my supporters, worry not.
“I remain committed to building a new Nigeria that works for all, irrespective of class, tribe or religion.
“Together we shall achieve. God bless Nigeria.”
In 2017, Edochie contested the Anambra governorship election on the platform of the Democratic Peoples Congress, DPC.
He ran against 36 other governorship aspirants, including the eventual winner, Willie Obiano.
