Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, has criticised former president Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as “the number one problem of Nigeria.”
Akiolu, a former police officer, stated his position at the public presentation of Battlelines: Adventures in Journalism and Politics, a book by Olusegun Osoba, a former governor of Ogun State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Lagos on Monday.
Making reference to a section of the memoir in which Osoba said Obasanjo misled South Western governors during the 2003 general elections, Akiolu opined that the former president was a deceptive person.
According to the traditional ruler, Bola Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor, did not fall casualty to the schemes of Obasanjo because he understood the latter’s behaviour.
“The problem we are having in this country is this and I will continue to say it that the number one problem of Nigeria is Obasanjo,” Akiolu said.
