Ogun Suspends Reopening Of Religious Centres Over Rising COVID-19 Cases

Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, has announced the suspension of the planned reopening of religious centres across the state.

Governor Abiodun announced the suspension while briefing journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Friday.

Churches and mosques across Ogun State were earlier scheduled on Friday, but the governor said the decision was rescinded following the increasing number of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the state.

He announced that the current ease of lockdown from Monday to Friday is still in force while residents are expected to stay indoors on Saturdays and Sundays.

The governor also stated that interstate travel remains prohibited, and vowed that individuals caught flouting the measures laid down by the Federal and state governments to flatten the pandemic will be prosecuted.
