Five persons were injured on Wednesday when supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed at Oba Akoko, Akoko South Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Richard Olatunde, the spokesperson of the Akeredolu/Ayedatiwa Campaign Organisation of the APC, alleged that it was Eyitayo Jegede’s supporters that first attacked Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s convoy which was on a campaign mission to the Akoko area of the state.
However, Samuel Fasua, the Head, Media Research, Eyitayo Jegede Campaign Organisation of the PDP, alleged that the hoodlums that attacked Jegede’s convoy were the supporters of Akeredolu. He alleged that three vehicles were destroyed in the clash.
He added that Jegede is being held at gun point in the palace of the monarch of Oba-Akoko.
Tee-Leo Ikoro, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, who confirmed the incident, said some men of the command had been deployed in the town to calm the situation.
