Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party has triumphed over Mudashiru Hussain, who flew the flag of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Osun West Senatorial by-election held Saturday. Ademola who will be succeeding his late brother, Isiaka Adeleke, in the Senate polled 97, 480 and won in nine out of the 10 local government areas the district is made up of. However, the establishment candidate, Hussain got 66,116 votes and only won one local government- his hometown of Ejigbo LGA. The vote tally shows Adeleke winning 12,547 votes as against Hussain’s 12,205 in Iwo Local Government Area; he also had 9,096 votes to beat Hussain who polled 8952 votes in Irewole Local Government Area and, yet, got 5,789 votes to defeat Hussain, with 5,360 votes in Ayedire LGA. Adeleke also put impressive showing in Olaoluwa LGA, getting 5,618 votes as against Hussain’s 5,316. Adeleke trounced Hussain with the widest margin in Ede North LGA, getting 18,559 votes to beat Hussain who struggled to garner 2,784 votes; and in Ede South LGA where Adeleke polled 13,406 votes, while Hussain got only 2,096 votes. In Ayedaade LGA, the PDP candidate got 9,061 votes while APC polled 7,179; Egbedore LGA, the PDP got 7,142 to defeat Hussain, who had 4,768 votes; Isokan LGA has Adeleke leading Hussain with 6,539 votes to 5,227 votes. However, Hussain won in Ejigbo LGA, getting 12,229 votes to beat Adeleke with 9,723 votes.
