Reckless Driving Lands Man In Court

A 32-year-old driver, Bola Akinwalere, on Thursday, appeared before an Okitipupa Magistrates Court in Ondo state for allegedly driving recklessly.

Prosecutor Zedekiah Orogbemi told the court that Akinwalere, who also drove without a drivers license hit one motorcyclist, Sola Ayegbami from behind, and inflicted serious injuries on him.

Orugbemi added that Ayegbamis motorcycle was damaged in the process.

According to him, his offences contravened Sections 6 and 10(3) of the Federal Highway Act, Cap.F13, Vol.VI, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

However, the suspect, whose address was not disclosed in court, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge leveled against him.

The Magistrate, Banji Ayeomoni granted the defendant bail of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum.

He said the surety must show evidence of a year-tax clearance as part of the bail conditions and adjourned the case until June 15 for further hearing.
