School Principal In Trouble For Stealing Students’ Exam Fees  

A school principal with Queens Diana International College, Katagowa, in Lagos, Michael Diekola, may cool his heels in jail over theft of N120,000 students examination fees. The fees was for 20 junior secondary school III students who have been scheduled to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination.

The Police from Oke-Odo Police Division told a Magistrate Court in Ojokoro Diekola stole and breached public peace through his conduct. The suspect was said to prepared examination for the students other than the BECE. His trick was uncovered when the school proprietress, Miriam Kanu. The suspect purported he took the action because he was owed two months’ salary. The police preferred a two-count charge against Diekola under the Lagos Criminal Law.

The magistrate, Mrs. A. Akani, granted the suspect, who pleaded not guilty, a bail in the same sum he stole, with two sureties in the like sum. Akani added that the sureties must be employed and show evidence of tax payment to the government, while adjourning till 8 October, 2014.
