Senate Confirms Dabiri-Erewa As Chairman Of Diaspora Commission

The Senate has confirmed Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NDC).

Lawmakers present at Thursday’s plenary confirmed the former lawmaker and broadcaster after considering the report of the Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations.

Senator Rose Oko, the lawmaker representing Cross River North senatorial district, laid the report on the floor of the upper legislative chamber.

In his remarks, Senator Bukola Saraki, the Senate President, described Dabiri-Erewa’s nomination as one that was well deserved.

He also thanked the Senate Committee for its effort in ensuring that the process of the confirmation was concluded on time.

“On behalf of the 8th Senate, let me congratulate Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa on this appointment, which is well deserved,” Senator Saraki said.

The Senate President wished her a successful tenure and charged her to be a great ambassador for Nigeria.
