A 41-year-old woman, who works as a cleaner in a police station, has accused a senior officer of raping her at the station.
She said the officer, whose name was not disclosed, had taken her to an office not in use at the station, took off her panties and raped her. She alleged that this happened in August.
The mother of two, from Daveyton, East Rand, South Africa, added that the man, who is an officer at the Benoni police vehicle clearance centre, had also raped her on three different occasions. She revealed that he had first raped her in 2017 when he asked her to come do his laundry at his house. She alleges that when she arrived at the officer’s house she found no laundry to wash.
“He went to his bedroom and got undressed. Without saying anything, he took off my panties and instructed me to get into bed with him and he slept with me without my consent,” said the woman.
She alleges the officer then slept with her again in the morning and then took her home.
“I was scared and confused and didn’t know what to do. I was ashamed of myself because I didn’t think that would be the way I would be making a living. He then said he would organise a job for me at the police station and that I should not worry.”
She also said the officer had asked to know where she lived. On getting there, he raped her again. She said she wanted to report the case but had been threatened by his colleagues.
