The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday asked President Muhammadu Buhari to stop parading himself as “Mr Integrity” following the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, certificate scandal which forced Kemi Adeosun, the ex-minister of Finance, out of office. The PDP in a statement issued by Kola Ologbondiyan, its National Publicity Secretary, said the President and his administration lacked the moral integrity it preaches after he (Buhari) allegedly aided Adeosun’s smuggling out of Nigeria in the middle of a forgery scandal. According to the opposition party, Adeosun could not have departed from the country under the watchful eyes of the security agencies without a clear approval from the Presidency to facilitate her exit. The statement read, “The PDP further notes that the All Progressives Congress (APC), in congratulating Adeosun, even after she had admitted her culpability on issues of forgery and corrupt practices, has further showcased the APC as a party of corruption; an iniquitous fold, where thieves receive medals instead of condemnation. “There are clear evidences that Adeosun could not have circumvented the DSS, Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), National Security Adviser (NSA) the Police and even the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) without the tacit approval of the Buhari Presidency.” The PDP also questioned why President Buhari appointed Adeosun, a dual national, to head a critical office like the Finance Ministry, alleging that it exposed the country to the dangers of having its national information being leaked out. as well as anti-Nigeria financial policies implemented by her. It is clear that the Buhari Presidency exploited this factor to swindle the nation, in the finance ministry? “Moreover, the PDP is worried that President Buhari with appointing Adeosun, with her divided citizenship alliance, to hold the sensitive office of the minister of finance, exposed our nation to the dangers of having our security and economic information sold to international interests. “This perhaps explains the anti-Nigeria financial policies, including damaging foreign borrowing negotiations, which have returned our beloved country to a debtor nation”, the statement read. The PDP said President Buhari and the APC lack the “moral rectitude” to speak about anti-corruption until the former minister is brought back to answer for N10 trillion which allegedly removed from the country’s treasury by the Presidency cabal and APC leaders in three years. The party also urged Theresa May, the British Prime Minister, to immediately repatriate Adeosun back to Nigeria having already admitted that her NYSC cerificate is not geninue.
