Tension As Task Force Chase Traders From Ketu Market

There was tension in Jakande Market, located in the Ketu area of Lagos State, on Friday as men of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Task Force) tried to chase traders as well as destroy some shanties in the market.

A policeman reportedly fired a bullet, which struck a resident. The incident caused a protest which led to a free-for-all.

Reports say policemen have been deployed to the area to douse the tension.

Angry youths were reported to have taken to the streets and destroyed vehicles parked by the roadsides, including a BRT vehicle.

A bus driver in the area told The Punch that the resident who was shot did not die.
