Three Friends Remanded For Beating Man To Death

An Ebute-Metta Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of three persons for allegedly beating 23-year-old man identified only as Jamiu, to death.

The accused, Kabiru Momoh, 25, Bashiru Abuba  kar, 25 and Abdullah Saleh, 24, were on Thursday arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder. They were said to have attacked their victim on July 12 at Start House, Ijegun Market, Satelite Town, Lagos State, around 3 pm.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Maria, told the court that the accused hit Jamiu repeatedly with their fists until he passed out. She said the offence contravened Section 222 Cap C17, Vol. 3 and punishable under Section 223 Cap C17, Vol. 3 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

However, their plea was not taken. The presiding magistrate, O.O.A. Fowowe Erusiafe, ordered that the accused be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons custody pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions.

The case was adjourned till September 4, 2017.
