Twitter users have descended heavily on Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, after he defended Funke Akindele following her conviction for violating the lockdown in Lagos.
Akindele and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello, had held a birthday party at their residence despite the coronavirus pandemic. She was on Monday sentenced to 14 days community service and N100,000 fine.
AY, reacting to the conviction, urged those who raised the matter that led to her arrest to use the same energy to ensure “oppressors in government” are made to face justice.
His statement has not been taken lightly by Twitter users who have roasted him as a result.
“What is she rising from? Did she fall, she committed a crime and she was called out, It’s like our celebrities are stupid, all the shouting people have been doing on twitter for buhari, y’all didn’t see it abi, it Aff reach funke, y’all wanna talk rubbish, Clowns,” @phabpresh said.
“I know and still want to believe that @AYCOMEDIAN is not an idiot so I will pretend he never tweeted this thrash,” @AdejumoAbayomi4 said.
“I am baffled seeing this tweet from AY… It’s disgusting,” @tobentopauloo tweeted.
“Funke wasn’t down before, it’s just a spite to learn and you didn’t have to Write in CAPITAL LETTERS to drive home your point….,” @moyinblessing tweeted.
