The Kano State Fire Service said it recovered two bodies and rescued eight others, after a one-storey building collapsed at Gwammaja ‘Yan Kosai, in Dala Local Government Area of the state.
Saidu Muhammed, spokesperson for the Service, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday in Kano.
“We received a distress call at about 1:30 a.m on Tuesday from one Abdullahi Muhammad.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene at about 1:37 a.m.
“We discovered that the house, a one-storeyed building, collapsed on 10 dwellers and that they were covered by broken blocks and sand,” Muhammad said.
He disclosed that those rescued were taken to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano for medical care, while the remains of the dead victims were also evacuated to the hospital.
Muhammad advised residents in the state to be conscious of their environment, and avoid living in dilapidated buildings.
