Two Teenagers Remanded Over Possession Of Indian Hemp

  An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court has on Wednesday, remanded two teenagers, Adeleke Nurudeen, 17, and Adeleke Lukman, 16 over alleged possession of Cannabis Sativa otherwise known as Indian hemp, and some charms. According to Joshua Oladoye, the prosecutor, the defendants carried the substance and charms, which they believed could protect man from gunshot wounds. He said they accused were caught on July 4, at about 3:30p.m. at Gonmina area of Osogbo, adding that their offence contravened Sections 516, 213, and 430 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003. The duo, however pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge preferred against them. Counsel to the accused persons, Najite Okobie, prayed the court to admit his clients to bail in the most liberal terms. Magistrate Olubukola Olowolagba overruled the bail application and ordered that the accused persons be kept in prison custody, due to the magnitude of their offences She adjourned the case  till July 6, for mention.
