The Governing Council of the University of Lagos has announced the sacking of Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, its Vice-Chancellor.
The council held a meeting at the National Universities Commission in Abuja, after which it announced its decision.
Reports say seven members of the council voted for the removal of Ogundipe while four others voted for his suspension.

The meeting was chaired by the UNILAG Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of its Governing Council, Dr Wale Babalakin.
Ogundipe had been accused of financial impropriety and gross misconduct.
