Samuel Audu Alfa, a United States-based doctor, has emerged as the candidate of the Action Alliance for the November 16 Kogi governorship election.
Alfa became AA’s candidate after he was unanimously adopted by the party at its primary on Saturday in Lokoja, the state capital.
Out of 105 accredited delegates, 96 who were present at the venue of the primary endorsed Alfa, the sole aspirant of the party, via a voice vote.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were on ground and monitored the exercise.
Alfa, who spoke after his affirmation, stated that if elected governor, he will address the plight of workers and pensioners in the state.
He called on all Kogi indigenes and residents to support him as he will need their support at the poll.
“You will agree with me that there are lots of challenges facing the state. I cannot do it alone, I will need everyone’s support and the task of rebuilding Kogi to the state of our dream starts now,” Alfa said.
The AA becomes the third to conduct its primary election after Mega Party of Nigeria and the African Action Congress.
