David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries, headquartered in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has joined some Nigerians who believe that COVID-19 global pandemic does not exist in the country.
In a video, Ibiyeomie mocking the idea of the outbreak in Nigeria, in one of his May 17, 2020, Sunday services, suggested that coronavirus is probably an advanced stage of malaria.
The clergyman, who made reference to comments by the founder of DAAR Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, that he was treated with malaria drugs while in isolation at the Gwagwalada COVID-19 treatment center, Abuja, said governors lie about COVID-19 cases in their states, to collect money from the federal government.
He expressed doubt over the number of infections in the country, advising the federal government to give money to other states as it did to Lagos, suggesting that it will pacify them from claiming that they also have COVID-19 outbreak.
“I told you people, what is Coronavirus? A virus that is corona. People are making noise about coronavirus. To me it is rubbish. Malaria, did we make noise about malaria? Malaria kills more people in Nigeria than coronavirus.
“Everyday, people die of malaria, in the villages they die, so why are we talking about coronavirus, closing borders up and down for what.
“Nigeria does not even have it, I dont think Nigeria has it, because you’ve heard Dokpesi. They say he had it, it’s malaria tablets they gave him. So if it is coronavirus, why would they give him malaria tablets?
“In Nigeria, they are using it to eat money. Governors eat money, corporations eat money, they tell lies, they take money from federal aid, government take money from aid associations.
“They dont have malaria overseas, in Nigeria, we are already used to malaria. Coronavirus cannot attack people. Nigerians are already malaria themselves. In Nigeria, I don’t believe the number of people who have, it is not up to the number they are calling…”
