Commuters plying Sagamu Expressway, a federal road linking Ogun State to Oyo, have lamented the bad state of the road.
The road, said to have been constructed more than 40 years ago, is in deplorable state due to years of neglect and lack of maintenance.
The respondents, who spoke to Newsbreak.ng, appealed to the federal government to fix the road.
Tunji Bamishaye, a truck driver, blamed both the state and federal government over the condition of the road.
“Please help us beg the government to help us fix this road. We voted PDP out because we thought they were not good. If APC fail to do the right thing too, we will also vote them out in 2023,” he said.
Another traveller, who simply identified himself as Segun, said cars and trucks constantly fall on the road, thereby causing a menace.
“This road is terrible. Cars, motorcycles and trucks fall on this road every day,” he stated.
He said: “That is my car over there. It has broken down on this road many times because I ply the road almost every day. There are some pits in the middle of the road that if a small car falls into, it won’t come out by itself.
Fausat Ajayi, a resident of Ita Sani, a community located along the road, said commercial activities are non-existent, due to the condition of the road.
