The woman tied up her son, Ayo, from last Thursday until Sunday, when a neighbour heard his cry for help.

The neighbour immediately alerted community leaders, who invited the police to arrest the woman.

In a video on social media, the woman, dressed in white garment church attire, can be seen being assaulted by some angry neighbours, who condemned her action, regardless of what the child might have done.

When interrogated, the woman, who is separated from Ayo’s father, said her son is possessed by an evil spirit, and is in the habit of stealing people’s money, according to LIB.

DSP Yemisi Opalola, spokesperson of the police command, who confirmed the incident, said the woman was arrested and made to sign an undertaking not to maltreat the child again.

Opalola said efforts are being made to search for the father of the child, so that the woman can hand the boy over to him.

She added that the police are closely monitoring the situation.

”We went to arrest her and she told her part of the story, how the boy has been disturbing her. In a nutshell, the police told her to go and look for the father of the boy if she cannot take care of the child again.
