Asisat Oshoala, Super Falcons’ forward, has expressed optimism that the team can still make it to the next stage of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup In France.
The team lost 3-0 to Norway in their opening match last Saturday, leaving them on the verge of elimination, should they lose their second game to South Korea on Wednesday(today).
Reflecting on the defeat to the Norwegians ahead of the game, the FC Barcelona star noted that the goals they conceded against the Norwegians were as a result of errors.
However, she said the team beat the Koreans and still qualify from the group, with their last game coming up against hosts, France.
“Basically, the defeat to Norway was from errors from the team. It wasn’t anything from tactics but just errors from our team and we were punished,” she said.
“But there is power in goals. It demoralises the opposing team and that was what happened to us. In the second half, it was much better. We were able to keep the ball more and create few chances.
But it was too late because we’ve conceded three goals already.
“The game against Norway is past now, we are focused on how to play against South Korea. They are also a very good team, tactically sound as well.
“We still have two games in the group and we can still qualify.”
