Nigeria’s U-20 female team, the Falconets, Saturday secured a 2-0 victory over their South African counterparts in the first-leg of the final qualifying round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Rasheedat Ajibade had put the Nigerian team ahead with a sublime finish on the half-hour mark before Nasarawa Amazon forward, Anam Imo completed the scoring in the first 45 minutes. The Falconets were largely untroubled by the South Africans who could barely contain the Nigerian ladies. The victory has taken the Falconets a step closer towards qualifying for their ninth World Cup appearance billed for France in August.
The return leg of the tie will be played January 27, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Edo state.
