Seun Kuti, son of Afro beat maestro, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has reacted to the viral ‘plane seat’ conversation after a Nigerian man ordered Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka out of his seat on board a flight.

The Grammy-nominated singer, while speaking his mind, said Prof. Wole Soyinka was not bothered about the whole situation because he didn’t respect elders during his youthful days.

The whole story started when a business tycoon, Tonye Cole shared on Instagram an incident he witnessed on the airplane.

According to Cole, Prof. Wole Soyinka got on a plane and took the window seat where the young man was assigned to, the young man came and insisted Prof. Soyinka leaves his seat. Other passengers pleaded with the young man to let the Nobel Laureate have the seat, but the man insisted on sitting where he was assigned.

The story has however, continued to generate many reactions from celebrities and critics. While some chastised the young man, some were of the view that the man was right by standing his ground to sit on his assigned seat, and not minding the culture of disrespecting elders.

However, Seun Kuti, in his reaction on Instagram, maintained that what people know is to continually claim respect for elders while the elders connive to destroy the country.

“We outchea too you know!!! That being said, the Nigerian professional class is callous and exemplified by this whole WS issue. The only culture they know is Agbada and how to respect elders. Just aesthetics nothing concrete.

“This ‘respecting elders’ is just an excuse not to stand up to elders!! To go around sucking up and kisses donkeys!( u know the right word). Ask them other than their agbada and ‘respecting elders’ what other african culture do they practice or hold higher than European and Arabic ideals. Ask them, the answer is Zero , Zilch, Nada.

“Respecting the elders the the Nigerian professional class’ shelter as they continue to collude and connive to destroy us! Wole Soyinka doesn’t mind, he never ‘respected elders’ in his own days !!!”
