Ashleigh Barty’s quest to further cement her position as world number one, suffered a setback, after she was dumped out Wimbledon by Alison Riske.
The 2019 French Open champion went down in three sets, losing 6-3 2-6 3-6 in one hour and 37 minutes in the fourth round encounter, despite her bright start.
Barty was one of the favourites to win the title at the All England Club, having played impressive tennis at the early stages of the competition.
But after dropping her first set of the competition to Riske, the Australian failed to recover back into the match.
American, Riske, will now face either Serena Williams or Carla Suarez Navarro in the quarter-finals.
